Al-Ahly, the football giants from Egypt, won the Egyptian football league 42 times. That is more than all other Egyptian football clubs together. They also won the African football championship a record nine times. Al-Ahly have plans to built a new home which is projected to be ready around 2026. The first schemes considered a football stadium for 60,000 spectators. Later, the projected capacity was reduced to 50,000. Only two Egyptian venues currently have a larger capacity.
