The next edition of the Copa América is scheduled to take place in the United States. The tournament will probably take place between 20 June 2024 and 14 July 2024. In 2016, the United States hosted the first-ever Copa América outside South America. The national football teams of the Argentine Republic, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the United Mexican States, the United States, Uruguay and Venezuela participated in the tournament.
The final and the road to the final
The national football team of Chile won the Copa América in 2016. They won the tournament after defeating the Argentine Republic, commonly known as Argentina, after a penalty shoot-out. 82,000 people attended the final between the Argentine Republic and Chile. The game took place in New Jersey. The Argentine Republic reached the final after beating the United States in Texas in front of 70,000 spectators. Chile reached the final after defeating Colombia in Illinois in front of a crowd of 55,000.
