The stadium, which is also used for athletics and concerts, was renovated several times. The stadium was named Estádio Cícero Pompeu de Toledo before it was renamed MorumBIS. It opened with a football match between São Paulo Futebol Clube and the Portuguese side Sporting Clube de Portugal. The stadium is named after a former chairman of São Paulo FC, who died before the inauguration of the venue. The stadium’s record attendance was set in 1977, when 138,000 people showed up for a football match between Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and Associação Atlética Ponte Preta. SC Corinthians Paulista became one of the first sports clubs in the world with 10 million followers on its main social media page.

São Paulo FC use the venue named MorumBIS for home games. The club was founded in 1930. SPFC is among the first South American sports clubs with a value of at least $100 million. They won numerous national and international trophies. São Paulo FC were crowned Brazilian football champions in 1977 for the first time in their history. In 1992, they were crowned South American football champions for the first time in their history. SPFC won the title after beating the Newell’s Old Boys from the Argentine Republic in a two-legged final.
World championship titles
São Paulo FC won their first world championship title in 1992 after beating FC Barcelona from Spain in Tokyo. Raí Souza Vieira de Oliveira scored twice for SPFC and Hristo Stoichkov, who is widely considered the best Bulgarian football player of all time, scored once for FC Barcelona. One year later, SPFC won the world championship for football clubs again after beating AC Milan. They also won the second edition of the tournament which is now known as the FIFA Club World Cup. São Paulo Futebol Clube won the final after defeating Liverpool Football Club from the United Kingdom. Liverpool FC reached the final after beating Deportivo Saprissa from Costa Rica and SPFC reached the final after defeating the Saudi football club Al-Ittihad.
Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite
The Brazilian football star Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, commonly known as Kaká, is one of the famous former players of São Paulo FC. He became one of the first athletes in the world with 10 million followers on his main social media page. Kaká started his professional football career with São Paulo Futebol Clube. He also played for the Italian side AC Milan, the Spanish side Real Madrid and Orlando City from Florida. In 2007, Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite played in a FIFA Club World Cup final with AC Milan. In 2008 and 2009, Kaká was listed by Time as one of the world’s 100 most influential people. He ended his professional football career in 2017 after playing several years for Orlando City.
