The national football team of Brazil, the first team with five FIFA World Cup titles, played multiple games at the venue named Estádio Estadual Jornalista Edgar Augusto Proença. Clube do Remo, one the main sports clubs from Pará, use the stadium for home games. The club was founded in 1905. Clube do Remo and arch-rivals Paysandu Sport Club both won the state championship of Pará numerous times.
