The construction of the venue started in 2020. Clube Atlético Mineiro, nicknamed Galo, use the stadium for home matches. The football club was founded in 1908 by several students from Belo Horizonte. On 27 August 2023, they played their first Brazilian top-flight football league game at the venue named Arena MRV. They defeated Santos Futebol Clube 2-0. Paulo Henrique Sampaio Filho, commonly known as Paulinho, scored the first goal of the match. He played professional football for the Brazilian side Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama and the German side Bayer 04 Leverkusen before he signed with Atlético Mineiro.
