Extra stadium info – Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades
The construction of the stadium, which is also known as a venue for rugby union, started in 2018. A statue of the world famous Argentine football legend Diego Armando Maradona can be found next to the stadium. The Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades opened with a football match between Racing Club and River Plate. Rafael Santos Borré Maury scored the first goal of the game. Racing Club lost the match against Club Atlético River Plate. In 1967, Racing Club became the first Argentine football club with a world championship trophy. River Plate won their first-ever world championship trophy in 1986.
