The stadium is nicknamed El Coloso del Parque (The Colossus of the Park). It became one of the largest sports venues by capacity in the Argentine Republic, commonly known as Argentina. The venue is named after a former manager of the Newell’s Old Boys. The club named Newell’s Old Boys was founded in 1903. The football club is named after Isaac Newell, who was born in the United Kingdom in 1853. Isaac Newell moved to the Argentine Republic as a teenager.
