The stadium named Estadio Ciudad de Lanús – Néstor Díaz Pérez became one of the largest sports venues by capacity in the Argentine Republic, commonly known as Argentina. Club Atlético Lanús use the stadium for home games. The club was founded in 1915. They won the Argentine top-flight football league in 2007 for the first time in their history. CA Lanús made their debut in the Copa Libertadores in 2008. That year, they finished below the Estudiantes de La Plata in the group stage of the continental football championship. CA Lanús were defeated by the Mexican side Atlas FC in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores in 2008.
