In 2011, the venue named Eden Park hosted a rugby league match between the New Zealand Warriors and the Parramatta Eels. 38,000 spectators attended the game, which became a record home attendance for the Warriors, the first rugby league club from New Zealand with 100,000 followers on its main social media page. The national rugby union team of New Zealand, nicknamed All Blacks, also won the 2011 Rugby World Cup final after beating the French Republic. They won their second Rugby World Cup title in 2011. The 2015 Cricket World Cup
The stadium named Eden Park hosted its first Cricket World Cup game on 28 February 2015. The national cricket team of New Zealand won the match after defeating Australia in front of a crowd of 40,000. The national cricket teams of India, Pakistan, South Africa and Zimbabwe also played at the venue during the 2015 Cricket World Cup. The last 2015 Cricket World Cup match at the stadium was a semi-final. New Zealand won the semi-final after defeating South Africa.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup
On 20 July 2023, the venue named Eden Park hosted the opening game for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The women’s national football team of New Zealand won the match against Norway 1-0 in front of 42,000 spectators. It became the best-attended women’s football game in New Zealand. The third female leader of New Zealand, who was born in 1980 as Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern, attended the match.
