The construction of the arena, which opened as the Sydney SuperDome, started in 1997. The Sydney Kings use the Qudos Bank Arena for home games. The basketball club was founded in 1987. In 2003, they were crowned basketball champions of Australia for the first time in their history. The Sydney Kings won the title after winning a two-legged Grand Final against the Perth Wildcats. The first leg took place at the Qudos Bank Arena in front of a crowd of 10,000. The second leg took place in Perth. In 2004, the Sydney Kings won the top-flight basketball league of Australia for the second time in their history. One year later, they were crowned Australian basketball champions for the third time in their history.
