The stadium is also known as The Gabba. It was one of the football venues for the Games of the Olympiad in 2000. The Brisbane Heat and the Brisbane Lions are among the first sports clubs from Queensland with with 100,000 followers on their main social media page. The Heat joined the Big Bash League and the Lions joined the Australian Football League. The Brisbane Heat were crowned champions in 2013 for the first time in their history. They won the title after beating the Perth Scorchers in front of 18,000 fans. The Brisbane Lions won their first-ever premiership title in 2001 after beating Essendon in front of 91,000 spectators. They won three consecutive premiership titles between 2001 and 2003.
