The construction of the venue started in 1990 and its construction costs were $93 million. The arena opened as the Delta Center. It hosted the figure skating and short track speed skating competitions for the Olympic Winter Games in 2002. The Delta Center opened with an ice hockey match. In 2016, the venue hosted the first Ultimate Fighting Championship event in Utah. A featherweight fight between Alex Caceres and Yair Raziel Rodríguez Portillo served as the headliner of the event. Alex Caceres was born in the United States in 1988. Yair Raziel Rodríguez Portillo was won in the United Mexican States, commonly known as Mexico, in 1992.
The Utah Jazz and Michael Jordan
The first basketball match at the venue named Delta Center was a match between the Utah Jazz and the New York Knicks. The Utah Jazz became the first basketball club from Utah with 1 million followers on its main social media page. In 1997, they played in the finals of the NBA for the first time in their history. The Jazz faced the Chicago Bulls from Illinois in those finals. The championship series consisted of six games. The first of those six games took place in Illinois in front of 24,000 spectators. The Bulls won the match. Michael Jeffrey Jordan scored the most points in the match. The world famous basketball legend won several NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls. He was born in New York, which became the largest city by population in the United States, in 1963.
Matches in the championship series of the NBA at the Delta Center
On 6 June 1977, the Delta Center hosted its first game for the championship series of the NBA. 19,000 fans showed up for the match, which was won by the Utah Jazz after beating the Chicago Bulls 104-93. Two days later, the Jazz defeated the Bulls again at the Delta Center. The third game in the championship series of the NBA at the Delta Center ended in a victory for the Bulls. In 1998, the Delta Center hosted three more matches for the finals of the NBA. The Chicago Bulls won two of those three matches.
