Extra stadium info – Toyota Stadium
The construction costs of the MLS stadium were $80 million. Several world-famous artists performed at the venue. It was known as the FC Dallas Stadium before it became the Toyota Stadium. The stadium was named Pizza Hut Park before it became the FC Dallas Stadium. On 13 November 2005, the venue hosted its first MLS Cup. 21,000 people showed up for the game, which was won by the LA Galaxy after beating the New England Revolution. Guillermo Ramírez Ortega, who played 106 matches for the national football team of Guatemala, scored the only goal of the game.
FC Internazionale Milano
On 5 August 2010, FC Dallas faced the Italian side FC Internazionale Milano at the Toyota Stadium. 21,000 fans showed up for the game. It was the first game at the Toyota Stadium which included a football club with at least one world championship title. Internazionale won their first world championship title in 1963 after beating the Argentine side Independiente. One year later, they won their second world championship title after defeating Independiente again. FC Internazionale Milano won their third world championship title in 2010 after beating TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The first MLS club from Texas
FC Dallas, the first Major League Soccer club from Texas, use the Toyota Stadium for home games. The club was founded in 1996 as the Dallas Burn. FC Dallas and arch-rivals Houston Dynamo became the first football clubs from Texas with a value of at least $100 million. In 1996, the Dallas Burn finished below the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. That year, the Burn drew an average home attendance of 16,000 in their first-ever Major League Soccer season. They played their home games at the Cotton Bowl Stadium before they moved to their new home venue. The Dallas Burn changed the name of the club into FC Dallas in 2005.
FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids
On 21 November 2010, FC Dallas played their first-ever MLS Cup. They lost the match against the Colorado Rapids. The game took place in the Canadian city of Toronto in front of 21,000 spectators. On 13 November 2010, the Rapids reached the MLS Cup after winning against the San Jose Earthquakes from California. One day later, FC Dallas reached the MLS Cup after winning against the LA Galaxy from California.
Lionel Messi
In 2023, Lionel Messi played his first away game for Inter Miami against FC Dallas at the Toyota Stadium. He became one of the first athletes with 100 million followers on its main social media page. The Argentine football legend Lionel Andrés Messi won world championship titles with the Spanish side FC Barcelona. He also won a world championship title with the national football team of the Argentine Republic, commonly known as Argentina, in 2022.
