The construction of the Major League Baseball stadium, which has a retractable roof, started in 2017. It is named after a financial services holding company. The Globe Life Field opened as one of the largest stadiums by capacity in Texas. The venue’s record attendance was broken on 8 October 2023. The country music singer and songwriter Morgan Cole Wallen performed at the Globe Life Field that day. The Texas Rangers use the ballpark for home games. On 24 July 2020, they played their first Major League Baseball match at the Globe Life Field. The Colorado Rockies won the game 1-0. Two days later, Joseph Nicholas Gallo hit the first home run at the stadium.
Joseph Nicholas Gallo
Joseph Nicholas Gallo, also known as Joey Gallo, was born in Nevada in 1993. In 2015, he started his Major League Baseball career with the Texas Rangers. Gallo left the club in 2021. He signed with the New York Yankees, the first club with 20 World Series titles, that year. In 2022, he left the Yankees for the Los Angeles Dodgers. One year later, Joseph Nicholas Gallo signed with the Minnesota Twins.
The World Series
In 2023, the Texas Rangers won the World Series for the first time in their history. On 27 October 2023, the Globe Life Field hosted its first World Series match. George Walker Bush, who was born in Connecticut in 1946, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. He served as the 43th president of the United States between 2001 and 2009. The Rangers won the first World Series match at the Globe Life Field after defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks in front of a crowd of 42,000. One day later, the Diamondbacks won the second World Series game at the Globe Life Field. The other three matches in the 2019 World Series all took place in Arizona. The Texas Rangers won all of those matches.
