The construction of the football stadium, which is among the main sports venues in Nashville, started in 2020. On 19 February 2023, the GEODIS Park hosted its first-ever match for the women’s national football team of the United States. They won the game against Japan 1-0. A crowd of 25,000 showed up for the game. In 1991, the women’s national football team of the United States won the inaugural edition of the tournament which is currently known as the FIFA Women’s World Cup. They won the world championship title after beating Norway in the Chinese city of Guangzhou.
The first Major League Soccer game for Nashville SC
On 29 February 2020, Nashville SC played their first-ever Major League Soccer game. They faced Atlanta United in that match, which took place in Nashville in front of 59,000 fans. It was a record crowd for a football match in Tennessee. The same day, Walker Dwain Zimmerman scored the first-ever Major League Soccer goal for Nashville SC.

Zimmerman played his first match for the national football team of the United States in 2017. On 28 May 2018, he scored his first goal for the United States. It was a header against the national football team of Bolivia.

The GEODIS Park opened with a football match between Nashville Soccer Club and the Philadelphia Union. The game ended in a 1-1 draw. 30,000 fans showed up for the match. Mikael Uhre from Denmark scored the first goal of the game, followed by Randall Enrique Leal Arley from Costa Rica. Nashville SC drew an average home attendance of 27,000 in that Major League Soccer season.
