Extra stadium info – Providence Park
In 2021, the Providence Park hosted its first-ever MLS Cup. New York City Football Club won the MLS Cup after beating the Portland Timbers in front of 25,000 spectators. The Portland Timbers use the Providence Park for home games. They drew an average home attendance of 18,000 in their inaugural Major League Soccer season. The Timbers and arch-rivals the Seattle Sounders became two of the first football clubs from the United States with 100,000 followers on their main social media page. Both clubs are among the first football clubs from the Americas with a value of at least $100 million. A beloved Portland Timbers tradition is the sawing of a slab off a log at the stadium following every Timbers home goal.
