The former football club which was founded in 1996 as the Rochester Raging Rhinos played numerous home matches at the Rochester Community Sports Complex Stadium. In 1999, they won the US Open Cup as a second-tier club. The Rochester Raging Rhinos won the title after beating the Major League Soccer club named Colorado Rapids in Ohio. They drew an average home attendance of 11,000 in that league season.
