The construction of the Target Center started in 1988 and its construction costs were $104 million. The arena, which is used for various events, is known as the home of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx. The Timberwolves basketball club was founded in 1989. The Lynx basketball club was founded in 1999. In 1990, the Minnesota Timberwolves played their first National Basketball Association match at the Target Center. In 1999, the Minnesota Lynx played their first Women’s National Basketball Association game at the arena. They won several WNBA titles.
