The stadium has been the home of the American football team of the Boston College Eagles since 1957. The Boston Patriots, currently known as the New England Patriots, used the venue for American football matches in 1969. In the 1970s, the Alumni Stadium hosted home games for the Boston Minutemen, a former football club.
