The construction of the venue, which opened as the Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, started in 1994. Its construction costs were $121 million. The stadium, which is located on the north bank of the St. Johns River, opened as one of the largest sports venues by capacity in Florida. In 2005, the TIAA Bank Field hosted its first Super Bowl.
