The construction costs of the venue, which opened with a football match, were $60 million. On 9 December 2020, the national football team of the United States played their first game at the stadium. They won the game against El Salvador 6-0. Football club Inter Miami use the stadium for home games. The Major League Soccer club was founded in 2018. They played their first-ever MLS match on 1 March 2020. The match against Los Angeles Football Club, which took place in California, was played in front of 22,000 fans. LAFC won the game 1-0 after the Mexican winger Carlos Alberto Vela Garrido scored the only goal of the match. Inter Miami won their first-ever Major League Soccer match on 23 August 2020. The game against Orlando City ended in a 3-2 victory for Inter Miami.
The Higuaín brothers
In 2020, Inter Miami signed the Argentine football star Gonzalo Gerardo Higuaín. He played professional football for CA River Plate, Real Madrid CF, SSC Napoli, Juventus FC, AC Milan and Chelsea FC before he signed with Inter Miami. His brother, Federico Fernando Higuaín, also signed with Inter Miami in 2020. Gonzalo Higuaín and Federico Higuaín both started their professional football career with the Argentine side River Plate. In 2021, they both scored against the Philadelphia Union in a Major League Soccer game.
Finals
Gonzalo Higuaín played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final, which took place in Brazil. The match was won by the national football team of Germany after Mario Götze scored the only goal of the match. In 2017, Higuaín played his only UEFA Champions League final, which he lost. The Spanish side Real Madrid won the final after beating the Italian side Juventus. 65,000 spectators showed up for the final, which took place in the Welsh city of Cardiff.
