In 2014, the stadium hosted Landon Timothy Donovan’s last game for the national football team of the United States. He became one of the first football players from North America with 1 million followers on his main social media page. Donovan started his professional football career with the German side Bayer Leverkusen. He also played professional football for the San Jose Earthquakes, the LA Galaxy, FC Bayern München, Everton FC and Club León. The German club named FC Bayern München became one of the first football clubs with a world championship title.
The Connecticut Huskies
The American football team of the Connecticut Huskies use the Pratt & Whitney Stadium for home games. They represent the University of Connecticut. In 1896, the team which is currently known as the American football team of the Connecticut Huskies played their first-ever match. The Huskies moved to the Pratt & Whitney Stadium in 2003. That year, they drew an average home attendance of 37,000.
