Extra stadium info – SoFi Stadium
The construction of the stadium, which is named after an online personal finance company, started in 2016. It opened as one of the largest sports venues by capacity in California. The stadium roof projects images that are seen from airplanes flying into the Los Angeles International Airport. Various world famous artists performed at the SoFi Stadium.
Football
On 3 August 2022, the venue hosted two football matches. The LA Galaxy, the first football club from California with a continental championship title, won the first one after defeating the Mexican side CD Guadalajara. Los Angeles Football Club lost the second one after a penalty shoot-out against Club América. The Mexican side Club América became the first football club from North American with 10 million followers on its main social media page.
The LA Bowl
On 18 December 2021, the SoFi Stadium hosted the first-ever LA Bowl. The American football team of the Utah State Aggies won the match against the Oregon State Beavers 24-13. 29,000 people attended the game. On 17 December 2022, the Fresno State Bulldogs won the second edition of the LA Bowl after beating the Washington State Cougars. The American football match took place at the SoFi Stadium in front of a crowd of 32,000.
The Chargers and the Rams
The SoFi Stadium hosted its first-ever Super Bowl on 13 February 2022. The Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl after beating the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20. 70,000 spectators showed up for the game. The Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams, two of the most valuable American football clubs in the world, use the SoFi Stadium for home games. Both clubs played numerous National Football League matches. The Los Angeles Chargers and the Los Angeles Rams played numerous home matches in front of capacity crowds at the SoFi Stadium.
