The construction of the venue started in 1997 and its construction costs were $357 million. It is used for various events, like American football, baseball, concerts, football and rugby sevens. The stadium opened in 2000 as the Pacific Bell Park. It opened with a baseball match between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Giants drew an average home attendance of 40,000 in their first-ever Major League Baseball season at the venue.
The 2010 World Series
The San Francisco Giants won multiple World Series titles. The Oracle Park hosted its first-ever World Series game on 27 October 2010. A crowd of 43,000 showed up for the match. The Giants won the game against the Texas Rangers 11-7. The second World Series match at the Oracle Park took place one day later. The San Francisco Giants won the game 9-0. The next three 2010 World Series matches took place in Texas. The Giants won two of those three matches.
The 2012 World Series
The Giants won another World Series title two years after the first World Series game at the Oracle Park. On 24 October 2012, the Oracle Park hosted its third World Series match. The San Francisco Giants won the game against the Detroit Tigers from Michigan 8-3. 42,000 spectators showed up for the match. The Giants also won the other three World Series games in 2012.
The 2014 World Series
