The Plaza México, which is also used for boxing and concerts, became the largest bullring by capacity in the world. It is among the main sports venues in the United Mexican States, commonly known as Mexico. The Mexican boxer Santos Saúl Álvarez Barragán, nicknamed Canelo Álvarez because of his hair colour, became a world title holder after beating Kermit Cintrón from Puerto Rico. Álvarez became the highest-paid boxer in the world.
