Extra stadium info – Stade olympique
The Stade olympique in south-eastern Canada was the main stadium for the Games of the Olympiad in 1976. It became a venue for several events, like baseball, Canadian football, concerts, football and trade fairs. Several former sports clubs played home games at the stadium. The Major League Soccer side Impact de Montréal use the Stade olympique when the demand for tickets is high.
The CONCACAF Champions Cup
In April 2015, the Stade olympique hosted the second leg of the final of the tournament which is currently known as the CONCACAF Champions Cup. It was a game between the club which is now known as CF Montréal and Club América from the United Mexican States, with 61,000 fans in attendance. Club América, the first Mexican sports club with 10 million followers on its main social media page, won the North American championship for football clubs after beating the Canadian club.
