The construction of the arena, which opened as the MTS Centre, started in 2003. The Manitoba Moose and the Winnipeg Jets use the Canada Life Centre for home games. Both ice hockey clubs were founded in the 1990s. The Manitoba Moose are members of the American Hockey League and the Winnipeg Jets are members of the National Hockey League.
