On 3 February 1900, the stadium hosted its first game of the national football team of Scotland. In 1954, they played their first-ever FIFA World Cup matches. Scotland lost both games. The first one was a match against Austria and the second one was a match against Uruguay. Aberdeen Football Club use the Pittodrie Stadium for home matches. In 1955, they won the Scottish top-flight football league for the first time in their history. Aberdeen FC gathered 49 points in 30 matches in that domestic league season.
