The stadium is among the main sports venues in Northern Ireland. The venue hosted its first UEFA Super Cup on 11 August 2021. Hakim Ziyech scored the only goal for Chelsea in the 2021 UEFA Super Cup. Later in the game, Gerard Moreno Balagueró scored the only goal for Villarreal CF. The English side Chelsea FC won the game against the Spanish side Villarreal CF after a penalty shoot-out. Chelsea won their second UEFA Super Cup title after beating Villarreal CF. They won their first UEFA Super Cup title in 1998. Chelsea won the title after beating the Spanish side Real Madrid in Monaco in front of 11,000 spectators.
