Peterborough United Football Club, nicknamed The Posh, moved to the venue in 1934. The stadium’s record attendance was broken on 20 February 1965, when 30,000 fans showed up for an FA Cup match between Peterborough United and the club which is currently named Swansea City Association Football Club. The game between The Posh and the club from Wales ended in a goalless draw. Peterborough United reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in 1965. On 6 March 1965, they faced Chelsea Football Club in their first-ever quarter-final of the FA Cup. Chelsea won the match, which took place in the city of London, 5-1.
