The construction costs of the Select Car Leasing Stadium, which is also known as the Madejski Stadium, were £50 million. Reading Football Club, nicknamed The Royals, use the stadium for home games. The football club was founded in 1871. They were promoted to the English top-flight football league in 2006 for the first time in their history. Reading FC drew an average home attendance of 23,000 in their first-ever top division season. They finished eight place with 55 points after winning 16 of the 38 Premier League matches during that football season. Seven of the 38 games ended in a draw for Reading FC.
