The stadium, which became the largest cricket stadium by capacity in Europe, was renovated several times. It hosted its first-ever Women’s Cricket World Cup final in 1993. England won the game against New Zealand. The stadium named Lord’s Cricket Ground is the home of Marylebone Cricket Club and Middlesex County Cricket Club. MCC was founded in 1787 and Middlesex CCC was founded in 1864.
Two finals in the 1970s
In 1975, the venue named Lord’s Cricket Ground hosted the first final of the tournament which is currently known as the Cricket World Cup. 26,000 people attended the world championship game. Four years later, it also hosted the second final of the tournament. The West Indies won the first two editions of the tournament which is currently known as the Cricket World Cup. Clive Hubert Lloyd captained the West Indies in the first two finals of the competition.

The national cricket team of India won their first world championship title after winning the third final of the tournament which is currently known as the Cricket World Cup. In 1983, the final took place at the venue which is named Lord’s Cricket Ground. India won the game with Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Kapil Dev Nikhanj, Kirtivardhan Bhagwat Jha Azad, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Madan Lal Udhouram Sharma, Mohinder Amarnath Bhardwaj, Roger Michael Humphrey Binny, Sandeep Madhusudan Patil, Sunil Manohar Gavaskar, Syed Mujtaba Hussain Kirmani and Yashpal Sharma.

The national cricket team of England won the Cricket World Cup in 2019 for the first time in their history. They defeated New Zealand in the 2019 Cricket World Cup final, which took place at the stadium which is named Lord’s Cricket Ground. Eoin Joseph Gerard Morgan was the captain of England in the final. Kane Stuart Williamson captained New Zealand in the final.
