In 1995, the venue hosted seven matches for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. On 5 June 1995, the women’s national football team of Brazil won the first one after beating Sweden in front of 14,000 spectators. The stadium’s record attendance was set in 1954, when 26,000 people showed up for a match between Helsingborgs IF and Malmö FF. Helsingborgs IF won the Swedish top-flight football league several times. Malmö FF became the first football club from Scandinavia in a European championship final.
