Extra stadium info – 3Arena
The construction of the venue, which has a rectractable roof, started in September 2010. The stadium was named Tele2 Arena before it became the 3Arena. It is used for several events, like bandy, concerts and football. DIF and Hammarby both use the stadium for home games. They are among the major Swedish sports clubs. On 20 July 2013, Hammarby IF played their first game at the 3Arena. 29,000 fans attended the match, which ended in a goalless draw. The next day, 27,000 fans showed up for the first game for Djurgårdens IF at the 3Arena. The visitors won the match. In 1955, DIF played in the first-ever edition of the European championship for football clubs. They faced Hiberian FC from Scotland in a two-legged quarter-final of the tournament. Djurgårdens IF lost both legs.
Swedish football champions
In 2019, DIF were crowned Swedish football champions for the eighth time in their history. It was their first Swedish top-flight football league title since they moved to the 3Arena. Hammarby won one Swedish top-flight league title before DIF won their eighth Swedish top-flight league title. They won the title in 2001. In 2019, Hammarby IF drew an average home attendance of 24,000 in 15 domestic league games. Djurgårdens IF drew an average home attendance of 15,000 in 15 domestic league games that year.
The Swedish cup tournament
Djurgårdens IF won the Swedish cup tournament in 1990 for the first time in their history. They won the title after defeating BK Häcken. Hammarby IF won the Swedish cup tournament in 2021 for the first time in their history. They also won their first Swedish cup title after beating BK Häcken. Hammarby won the cup after winning a penalty shoot-out. The game between Hammarby and BK Häcken took place at the 3Arena.
