The construction of the Basque venue, which became one of the largest stadiums by capacity in Spain, started in 1991. It opened with a football match between Real Sociedad and Real Madrid. The game ended in a 2-2 draw. Real Madrid became the first sports club in the world with 100 million followers on its main social media page. The Spanish club became the first football club with 10 European championship titles. They also won several world championship titles.
