The Fernando Buesa Arena is named after a former Spanish politician who was assassinated by ETA. Bitci Baskonia use the arena for home games. The basketball club was founded in 1959. They drew an average home attendance of 13,000 in their inaugural Spanish league season at the Fernando Buesa Arena. Bitci Baskonia were crowned Spanish basketball champions several times. In 2002, they were crowned Spanish basketball champions for the first time in their history.
