The stadium opened with a boxing match. In 2012, it hosted UEFA European Football Championship matches of the national football teams of the Czech Republic, the Hellenic Republic, Poland and Russia. The first-ever football match at the Tarczyński Arena took place on 28 October 2011. 40,000 people attended the match between Śląsk Wrocław and Lechia Gdansk. Śląsk Wrocław was founded in 1947 under a different name. In 1977, they were crowned Polish football champions for the first time in their history. Śląsk Wrocław drew an average home attendance of 18,000 during that league season.
