With 311 goals, Van der Kuijlen became the player who scored the most goals in the Dutch top-flight football league. He scored multiple goals against Heinz Stuy. In 1971, the record for consecutive clean sheets in the Dutch top-flight football league was broken by Stuy when he played for Ajax. In 2004, Heurelho da Silva Gomes almost broke the record when he played for PSV.
