The construction of the stadium started in 2004. It took 27 months to complete. The national football team of Moldova played numerous matches at the venue. They played their first matches in the 1990s. Alexandru Epureanu became the first player who played at least 100 matches for the national football team of Moldova. Zimbru Chişinău use the stadium named Stadionul Zimbru for home games. The club was founded in 1947. It became the first sports club from Moldova with 10,000 followers on its main social media page. Zimbru Chişinău won the first five editions of the top-flight football league of Moldova in the 1990s.
