The venue hosted 1990 FIFA World Cup matches of the national football teams of Belgium, Korea, Spain, Uruguay and Yugoslavia. Hellas Verona use the stadium for home games. In 1976, they reached the Italian cup final for the first time in their history. SSC Napoli won the cup final after beating Hellas Verona 4-0 in the city of Rome. In 1985, Hellas Verona became the first football club from Verona with an Italian championship title.
