PAOK in the 1970s
PAOK won the Greek cup tournament in 1972 for the first time in their history. They won the cup after beating Panathinaikos FC 2-1. The match took place in the city of Piraeus in front of 34,000 spectators. The stadium’s record attendance of 45,000 was set in a football match between PAOK and AEK, two of the first Greek football teams with 100,000 followers on their main social media page, in 1976. The same year, PAOK were crowned Greek football champions for the first time in their history. During that domestic league season, they drew an average home attendance of 19,000. PAOK won 21 games in that league season. Seven games ended in a draw and two games ended in a loss during that Greek top-flight league season.
