Extra stadium info – Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena

The Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena, which has a capacity of 28,000 for international matches, opened as the MSV-Arena. The construction costs of the stadium were €43 million. It is also known as a venue for American football and concerts. In August 2005, 31,000 people showed up for a football match between MSV Duisburg and Borussia Dortmund, which became the stadium’s first-ever capacity crowd. MSV Duisburg, nicknamed Die Zebras, was founded in 1902. In 1964, they finished second place in the first-ever Bundesliga season, behind 1. FC Köln. MSV Duisburg drew an average home attendance of 28,000 during that league season.
