The construction costs of the BRITA-Arena were €14 million. The stadium opened with a football match between SV Wehen 1926 Wiesbaden and Borussia Dortmund. The visitors won the game. Borussia Dortmund became the second German football club with a world championship trophy. FC Bayern München became the first one.
