The construction of the Stade Michel-d’Ornano, which is named after a former French politician, started in 1991. The venue hosted its first-ever match for the national football team of the French Republic in July 1993. The French side won the game against Russia 3-1. Football club Stade Malherbe Caen Calvados Basse-Normandie use the stadium for home games. The club was founded in 1913.
