La Berrichonne de Châteauroux was founded in 1883. In 2004, they reached the final of the French cup tournament for the first time in their history. La Berrichonne de Châteauroux faced Paris Saint-Germain in that final. PSG won the final, which attracted a crowd of 78,000. Pedro Miguel Carreiro Resendes, commonly known as Pauleta, scored the only goal in the final. He scored various goals for the national football team of the Portuguese Republic, commonly known as Portugal.
