The same year, AaB were one of the 32 UEFA Champions League participants. They finished fourth place with four points in their first-ever group stage participation. The Greek side Panathinaikos FC, the French side FC Nantes and the Portuguese side FC Porto finished above AaB in the group stage of the tournament.
