Stadium news #58
Aurelio De Laurentiis, the owner and president of the Italian football club SSC Napoli, revealed plans for building a new stadium in Naples. The new venue could be ready in 2027. A renovation of the current home of SSC Napoli seemed more likely a while ago. Architects told Aurelio De Laurentiis about the difficulties such a modernization would bring. SSC Napoli should also move to another stadium during the renovation works, which would take years. De Laurentiis told discussions are already underway regarding the acquiring of land for the construction of the football stadium. The land is located in the western part of Naples. The capacity of the proposed stadium might be around 60,000.
A potential move to Castel Volturno
The mayor of Castel Volturno told that the future home of SSC Napoli, the former club of the Argentine football legend Diego Armando Maradona, could be built in Castel Volturno. A stadium could be build on lands that was proposed for the construction of a power plant. The construction works could probably start sooner in Castel Volturno than in Naples. Aurelio De Laurentiis made clear that he prefers to keep SSC Napoli in the city of Naples.
