The Vodafone Park, which is named after an English multinational telecommunications corporation, was built on the site of the former home of Beşiktaş JK. The demolition of the previous stadium used by Beşiktaş started on 2 June 2013. The previous home of Beşiktaş opened in 1947. Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe shared the stadium with Beşiktaş for many years. The Vodafone Park hosted its first-ever UEFA Super Cup game in 2019. The game between the English football clubs Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC was played in front of 38,000 spectators. Liverpool Football Club won the game after penalties. Liverpool FC won their first-ever world championship title in 2019 and Chelsea won their first-ever world championship title in 2021.

Beşiktaş JK, nicknamed Kara Kartallar (Black Eagles), became one of the most popular Turkish football teams. Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are among the first Turkish football teams with a value of at least $100 million. In 1992, Beşiktaş became the second football club from Türkiye with 10 domestic top-flight league titles. That year, they won 23 of their 30 league games. Beşiktaş drew the other seven games. They became the first Turkish football side which won the top-flight league undefeated.
