The construction of the stadium started in October 2012. It became one of the largest sports venues by capacity in Türkiye. The national football team of Türkiye played various matches at the Medaş Konya Büyükşehir Stadyumu. On 3 September 2015, they played their first game at the stadium. The match against Latvia, which attracted a crowd of 35,000, ended in a 1-1 draw. Three days later, the national football team of Türkiye won their first match at the Medaş Konya Büyükşehir Stadyumu after beating the Netherlands 3-0.
