The construction of the stadium started in 2013. Antalyaspor, nicknamed Akrepler (Scorpions), was founded in 1966. It became one of the first sports clubs from Türkiye with 100,000 followers on its main social media page. Rüştü Reçber is one of the former players of Altalyaspor. The former goalkeeper reached the semi-finals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup with the national football team of Türkiye. One year later, he signed with the world famous Spanish side FC Barcelona.
Samuel Eto’o Fils
In 2015, Antalyaspor signed Samuel Eto’o Fils. The former player of the national football team of Cameroon became the first person from Cameroon with 1 million followers on his main social media page. Eto’o played in a FIFA Club World Cup final with the Italian side FC Internazionale Milano against TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He scored once in his only FIFA Club World Cup final. Internazionale and Eto’o won the world championship for football clubs after beating Mazembe. In 2019, Eto’o ended his professional football career in Qatar.
